Prize Patrol

It is with great pleasure that we annouce the winners of our Open House games.
Deanna Furtado, Main Circulation, won the "Scavenger Hunt." There were 9 entries with 100% correct answers, so we placed all those winners into a drawing for the prize (a goody bag of fun stuff!) Congratulations, Deanna!

Pam Sogge, Main-Library Central, won the word search. There were 20 completed word searches turned in, so we did another drawing for the prize (another goody bag of more fun stuff!) Congratulations, Pam!

...And finally, our guessing game. We asked our guests to guess how many new items we have added to the collection this fiscal year. As you can see in the photo above, the actual number is 168,835 items. Ricardo Viera from the IS department had the closest guess with 168,437. Ricardo won a VCR! Great Job, Ricardo!

Thanks to everyone who came by and joined in the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Our Open House was a great success! Thank you to everyone who was able to stop by and visit! If you were unable to attend, please enjoy the photos.

The atmosphere was festive, with balloons scattered throughout the area. Visitors enjoyed touring the departments and reading the fun & informational placards that CD & TS staff created about themselves.

As usual, DJ Ronda set the mood with upbeat music. There was a lot of dancing going on. Quite frankly, we could not help ourselves--we just had to dance!

Visitors also signed our "Virtual Guest Book" by commenting on the first post of this blog.

Everyone enjoyed the games. Our game committee designed a word search using "Acquisitions Speak." The committee also created a fun "Scavenger Hunt," which really got people moving around the department and talking to staff. The "Guess the Number of Items" contest was also a big hit. (For contest winners, please see the "Prize Patrol" post.)

Last, but certainly not least, food and drink were enjoyed by all. In addition to the cake, we served veggies, chips, & pretzels with three fabulous dips. The three dips, "cheesy tomato," "crazy crab" and "french onion," were definately a crowd favorite. As you can see, the cake was popular, too!
